I want to start off with this song of worship:
“speaks about how the world testifies to God's presence and his handiwork.” — JubileeCast
Do you hear it? Do you see it? Are you grateful today that you woke up?
Psalm 104 is a must-read for you today!
♡♡♡
Not to be dramatic… but I want to take a quick turn.
Let’s talk about it.
What do you do when you feel like you’re:
Falling apart.
Or nothing is making sense.
How about you’ve felt like this year you’ve been crying more than smiling?
Where do you find your strength to keep going?
Where do you fall?
♡♡♡
Let me tell you a short story about:
Elijah. In the Old Testament, of course!
It takes place in 1 Kings 19.
Elijah was zealous for Lord God Almighty.
The Israelites rejected the Lord’s covenant.
They tore down His altars.
They killed the prophets by the sword.
What about Elijah? Because wasn’t he a prophet? Yes, he was.
They were trying to kill him too.
The Lord spoke to Elijah:
“Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” — 1 Kings 19:11 NIV
Guess what came after the Lord spoke:
“Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” — vs 11-12
Then look what happened after:
“When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” — vs 13
Elijah repeated himself twice before the Lord.
After the heart-changing experience he witnessed, the Lord told Elijah what to do next. I recommend reading it all.
Hopefully, you will see and witness what I have.
♡♡♡
But seriously, how many times do you repeat yourself before the Lord?
Do you wait for Him to speak? For Him to do a spiritual transformation in your heart before He speaks?
We LOVE fast responses, don’t we?
“Lord, should I…”
“Lord, may I…”
“Lord, can I…”
“Lord, what do I do or should do?”
“Lord, what do you think of…”
“Lord, (fill in the blank)”
What happens when the responses you want don’t come fast enough?
Do you dwindle? Do you fall? Fall into a ball of doubt, confusion, and uncertainty?
Or do you fall into His trust?
Even if it doesn’t make sense, will you trust Him?
When the heart surrenders and witnesses what He’s doing, you might get your response. Or even get the response while going through it.
We may want a sign. Or even a couple of them.
But He always gives us what we need right then and there.
He’s always there.
You can come to God whenever you want to, freely.
He will make a way.
If you are falling today, fall into His arms. He will catch you and will not drop you. He knows what He is doing!
28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 ESV
P.S
If you read until Elijah’s departure, it sure is amazing! Our God will always make a WAY!
