A fond memory that strikes me tonight is postpartum.
Many moons ago, I remember being glued to our small reclining chair days after I delivered my daughter. With all the feedings, I felt that I was glued there. All of our moments were captured there. All the sleepless nights, diaper blowouts, being peed on, spit up, and so forth. I remember being so tired and crying out of anger due to lack of sleep.
One day, my husband encouraged me to shower and rest. I remember hearing the door open, and in walked my husband with our daughter.
âLook, thereâs mama!â
I felt so emotional and wrapped in love â¤ď¸
Look, there I was. Taking care of myself and washing away tiredness.
Fast forward many years, as she requests stories to read before bed, I quiet my to-do list and read. Sometimes, she leans in, grabs my face, and kisses my forehead.
Do I dwell in those moments of postpartum, no. Was it fun, far from it. It had its moments and Iâm grateful for my phone that captured many moments.

Do you know this song:
âMary Did You Knowâ
Because if you donât, here are some of the lyrics from the beginning:
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This child that you delivered, will soon deliver you
The songâs lyrics wonder if Mary could grasp the incredible power held in her newborn.
But, letâs rewind and go to Luke 1:30-33.
30Â And the angel said to her, âDo not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31Â And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32Â He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33Â and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.â
Mary had found favor with God⌠WOW!
Mary knew she would bear a son who would be named Jesus: Savior.
Mary knew that Jesus âwill be called the Son of the Most High.â
Mary knew that God âwill give to him the throne of his father David,â An eternal kingdom that has no END!
Mary knew that her pregnancy was a result of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Most High.
With that, came Maryâs Song of Praise
Doesnât that boggle your mind? Itâs a miracle. For four hundred years, God didnât speak. He was silent but that doesnât mean He wasnât working behind the scenes. He said what He needed to say in the Book of Malachi. We wonât dive deep into it but the next time God spoke, it was to prepare the way for His son, Jesus!
âAnd he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers,â

âAs my mind went back to the manger scene, I began to think about the power, authority, and majesty she cradled in her arms. Those little lips were the same lips (that) had spoken worlds into existence. All of those things were contained in the young child lying quietly on her bosom. Even now, he was the very one who had given life to his mother, Mary.â â Mark Lowry

Mary didnât have a phone to capture all the memories and moments but she pondered everything in her heart â¤ď¸
And with that, I leave with this:
That sleeping child you're holding is the great, I Am
Isaiah 9:6
6Â For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
